Water is one of the greatest gifts that mother nature gave to us. Water is important for life and it ensures smooth functioning of our body systems. In fact, the human body is 55% to 78% water. That’s why our body requires anything between 1 to 7 liters of water every day. This amount depends on various factors like activity, humidity, temperature etc. When our daily water intake falls below the required amount we will face the consequences of dehydration and even death.

So, drinking water is very very important for life. Let’s take a look at some of the important health benefits of drinking water:

  • Water keeps our digestive system in order and carries away the waste products from our body. If you drink less water, you will definitely face problems in digestion, which ultimately may lead to constipation and discomfort. So, better drink more water.

  • Water is necessary for human body to absorb various vitamins and nutrients from food and drinks. Vitamins and minerals are very important for a healthy body.

  • Water acts as a natural purifier by removing toxins and wastes from our body. If you want a healthy and glowing skin, drink lots and lots of water. Water can also help in removing skin dryness and acne.

  • Water can help in weight loss. Scientists have found that sometimes the thirst mechanism may be mistaken for hunger and one may eat when the body is actually craving for water or fluid. This kind of overeating behavior leads to increased calorie consumption and ultimately you will gain weight. So, if you want to lose weight, prevent overeating by drinking more water.

  • In hot and humid weather, water helps in keeping our body temperature low. No need to drink and cool or chilled drinks. Just drink fresh water and your body temperature will stay within safe limit.

  • Water refreshes our body and mind. It can even remove headaches and dizziness, caused by fatigue. Mind that fatigue is also a sign of dehydration. So, drink water and stay fresh all day!

    I agree, water is very good for you. Luckily, my mom was a good influence on me with this because she is always drinking water. I had a kidney stone about a year and a half ago so it reminded me to drink lots and lots of water. Sometimes, we think that we’re drinking enough when we really aren’t.

    Fantastic post! A lot of people complain about the lack of taste, but I find that once a person breaks the habit of drinking soda or sugary juice, she almost certainly grows to love and appreciate water. For me, there is no better thirst-quencher, Cheers!
