Coffee lowers risk of Stroke in Women
Coffee is a favorite drink of many people worldwide. In fact, it is one of the most popular beverages in the world. Personally I prefer both tea and coffee. But, today I came to know about the findings of a new research, which suggests that two cups of coffee a day can lower the risk of stroke in women. So, coffee is actually good for health and we must not underestimate it’s beneficial effects.
During that particular study, findings of which will be published in the March 3 issue of Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association, researchers from the Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health in Boston looked at the dietary habits of more than 80,000 women. They wanted to find how coffee consumption is linked with stroke risk. For this, they analyzed data of total 83,076 women who participated in the Nurses’ Health Study between 1980 and 2004.
At the end of the study, the researchers found that long term coffee consumption has no direct link with higher risk of stroke. In fact, coffee may reduce the risk in women. The findings of the study points that the risk of stroke was 19 less in women who drank two to three cups of coffee every day. And who drank four or more cups a day, the risk of stroke reduces to 20 percent.
So, drinking more coffee may reduce the risk of stroke. However, the researchers warned that the results are applicable to healthy women only. If you already have developed the risk of stroke from other factors, simply drinking too much coffee may not give any good results. Moreover, if you have some other health problems such as high blood pressure, insomnia or heart problems, coffee may not be a good option for you.

Interesting! I’d missed this one - though I’ve seen quite a few other studies that show health benefits for coffee drinking in WOMEN specifically - including a lowered risk of dementia in Alzheimers, a lowered risk of diabetes and a lowered risk of heart disease. Thanks for the heads up!
